DRAWA - Development of touristic navigation on Drava waterway between sections of 0+000 do 198-600 rkm“

The Agency for Inland Waterways together with the Southern Water Directorate of Pécs reported to the first call of the Hungary-Croatia Cross-Border Cooperation Program 2014-2020 DRAWA project proposal which was approved in March 2017.

Project description:

The last couple of decades show that there is an increase in the so-called ecotourism, rural tourism or adventure tourism. In the environment protection the sustainable development and the diverse tourism possibilities are become the favourable factors. The water tourism (adventure tourism) has become very popular however, in the Drava River area it is not yet recovered enough.

Within the project DRAWA Hungarian partner will perform hydrographical survey of the 198,6 rkm of the Drava river, they will produce digital model of the river and digital charts. The Agency will carry out a the trilingual tourism guide and handbook beside attractions, sightseeing and points of interest will include thematic routes, proposed travel plans and organized excursions to make the water tourism more attractive. Agency will also create a trilingual mobile application, which will help to participate in the water tours in a safe and planned manner. Furthermore, for the organizations responsible for shipping it will also allow a better view of the current waterway transport in the river. The application would include: tourist attractions, boat mooring sites, routes for safe navigation for tourists (canoes etc.).

The start of the project is 15.06.2017. The duration of the project is 20 months.
