Critical Sectors on the Danube
Coverage: from rkm 1295+500 to rkm 1433+100.
This page provides hydrographic surveys of critical sectors on the joint Croatian–Serbian section of the Danube. Each survey includes the date to which its data refer.
rkm stands for river kilometre.
Basis for Identifying Critical Sectors
An earlier analysis by the joint expert group of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Serbia responsible for fairway maintenance identified 17 critical sections. Insufficient fairway width was identified in most sections, while insufficient depth was identified in four:
- Mohovo Channel
- Sotin
- Židovski rukavac, near rkm 1397
- Apatin
The analysis identified Mohovo Channel and Apatin as the limiting sections.
In 2014, the Directorate for Inland Waterways in Belgrade and the Agency for Inland Waterways in Vukovar prepared a document entitled “Application of the Methodology for Prioritising Critical Sectors on the Joint Croatian–Serbian Section of the Danube”. The document analyses conditions in 2013 and identifies priority sectors for detailed hydrographic surveys.
This historical overview does not confirm current fairway conditions. For current information, consult the Navigation Bulletin and notices to skippers.
